We caught up with Ses of Blackwork Tattoo Studio a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
What inspired you to start?
I’ve always been passionate about art. When people saw my art and wanted me to design their tattoos, it sparked my interest. I looked into what was needed to get started. I was quickly able to find an apprenticeship and start learning this aazing craft.
What makes your business stand out from other companies?
Our shop uses only vegan-friendly products. We are also consent-oriented and put a focus on clients autonomy. Making sure people have the space to get the tattoo they want and with someone that prioritizes their satisfaction is paramount. We want you to leave with a tattoo you will be happy with the rest of your life and don’t mind moving the stencil and what not to get the best tattoo.
What has been one of your most memorable customer success stories?
To me the more unique or difficult challenges can be with cover ups. Finding ways to get someone a tattoo they will be happy with and not just replacing an unwanted tattoo with “what can work” to me makes it more rewarding. Especially when they have settled with an idea because they think it works.
What advice would you give to your client to prepare before they start working with you?
We are pretty easy to work with. We have a booking form and that usually covers most of our questions for your tattoo. Only advise is to check out our work, so you can pick artist that;s going to give you the look closest to your tattoo dreams.
Do you have any exciting plans for the future of your business?
We do regular flash events and some are fundraisers. Near later part of June, we will be doing a fundraiser for our local queer community group. We also plan to do a few conventions this year and next. We will add all that info to our socials.
